COMFORT BOX ITEM EXPLANATIONS
Each item has been carefully chosen to be included in the Comfort Boxes with the intention to create keepsakes of a family's precious child. Some items will be cherished, some items may never be used but the idea is that hopefully a bereaved family will find comfort in these keepsakes when they are missing their baby. The explanations below are written to the family and are also included in the Comfort Boxes.
NAVIGATING THE UNKNOWN (Book)
Navigating the Unknown, An Immediate Guide When Experiencing the Loss Of Your Baby encompasses everything that you need to know about navigating the unfamiliar journey of grief. It covers all the unexpected decisions that need to be made when a parent faces such devastating news, and follows through the first year and after, including: informing others, experiencing grief, taking care of oneself, asking for help, how to re-enter into the world, having "grocery store conversations", holidays, birthdays, anniversaries and how to memorialize, honor and celebrate your precious baby.
Written by the Ruthie Lou Foundation's founder, Amie Lands, Navigating the Unknown is the book that she was looking for when, after a textbook healthy pregnancy, Amie learned that her daughter Ruthie Lou's life would be brief. She never wants another parent to feel as lost as she did, so this book is her gift to you.

TWO BLANKETS
The two blankets in this box were lovingly handmade for your family; one for baby, one for you. You may use your child's blanket for anything; to swaddle them, to line their hospital crib, as a backdrop for photos, and ultimately to keep with him/her when you have to say goodbye. The idea is that you will each share half of the same blanket and in the times that your arms ache, you have something of his/hers to hold. You may also choose to keep both blankets with you, that's ok too. Regardless of what you choose, your love will forever be with your child and your baby will always be part of you.
DIGITAL SD MEMORY CARD & PHOTO ALBUM
Please ask your nurse for access to the hospital camera, in the chance that you do not have access to one of your own. Although you might decline photos of your child because you do not want to remember him/her in this state, these photos may be the only pictures that you have of your precious baby. One of the largest regrets of families is that they wish they had taken more photos of their child and with their child. This memory card gives you an opportunity to take photos without the having pictures open up every time you use your phone, as well as offers privacy to view, order or print from them from your home computer. This memory card and album provide a special place just for your child.
HAND/FOOT IMPRINTS
Hand and foot imprints offer a tangible piece of your baby to treasure. In this kit, there is enough material to take an imprint of a hand and/or foot. You may want to put the imprints on display in your home or keep them in a special place to be taken out when you are ready or want to share them.
MEMENTO BAGS
Memento bags are a sweet place to store special keepsakes of your child such as a lock of hair or your baby's hospital ID bracelet. The chosen item(s) will be held safe in the plastic zip-tight bags yet tucked gently into the white organza bags.
SOOTHING TEA & AROMATHERAPY CANDLE
When you return home, rituals can be very healing. This Teamotions tea was created by a mother whose twin daughters died shortly after birth and the candle in this box was handmade especially for you. Please use both the tea and the candle as a way to be gentle and nurturing to yourself in this exhausting journey of grief.
